New Exhibit in the Historic Courthouse

In strict adherence to conventional wisdom, with the carousel horse exhibit gone from the Historic Courthouse Treasury it was time to bring in the carts.

While the courthouse is a huge building with large doors and hallways, the entryway was too tight a squeeze to be used as a wagon road. Fortunately we had help from Auburn’s own Parlor 59 of the Native Sons of the Golden West.

The day started at the Bernhard Museum Complex where we disassembled the Doctor’s Buggy and loaded it up for transport.

Loading and unloading the buggy was easy, but getting all the pieces through the back door was a test of strength and logistics as every feature of the chassis that made for a smoother more maneuverable ride made it incredibly difficult to carry.

By comparison the moving of the child’s buggy was like taking candy from a child, in a buggy.

After an hour or so of hard work we managed to get the wagons in and reassembled.

The new exhibit, which also includes old photos and horse tack, is open daily in the Treasury of the Historic Courthouse.
