While working on our upcoming exhibit of wedding dresses we had the idea to invite people who had been married in Placer County to bring their wedding photos to the Museums Office to be scanned for inclusion in the exhibit. The new additions to our photographic collection span from 1895 to 2008 and were accompanied by brief oral histories of the weddings.
In addition to the wedding photos, we also received several postcards from the early 20th century and a wedding dress featured in one of the photos from the 1920s.
The photos will most likely be displayed as a Placer County Wedding album, or a video slide show to be projected on the floor at the entrance to the Placer County Museum.
If anyone out there missed the times we had scheduled to scan wedding photos but still wants to become part of history, our Curator of Collections, Kasia Woroniecka, is available by appointment at 530.889.7705
