Collections are central to everything that museums do and in order to make our collection more dynamic and relevant we have adopted a new contemporary collecting guide. The guide allows us to focus on recent and evolving local history so that we can build a better collection for future generations. We will focus on materials that are remembered by people alive today, as well as materials that are in the process of passing out of everyday use or were newly created and are of importance to the collection. Since we are not able to collect everything, we will focus only on objects tied to significant events or projects; school, business or individual activities that are relevant to Placer County. This new collecting guide comes at a perfect time, since our collection will soon move to a new and larger facility. It will give us a chance to better organize and take care of our growing collection.
