The Bernhard Museum garden has just been planted with vegetables that would have been popular in gardens of the 1890s including potatoes, beans, rhubarb, and more. The garden is a great addition to the setting of the Living History Program, adding a much appreciated splash of fresh vegetables outside the kitchen window. Above are hard working gardening volunteers Gail Reinke and Scott Maxwell. Also pictured is the somewhat helpful Washington, whose main job was protecting the garden from cats. This is yet another way our volunteers help bring the history of our area to life for visitors.
